Reports, indicate that undefeated Golden Boy fighter Eddie Gomez has been chosen as one of the sparring partners of Victor Ortiz. This was later confirmed as Gomez told BoxingScene.com that he will be aiding Ortiz’s fight.
Mayweather (41-0, 25 KOs) last fight was a unanimous decision over Shane Mosley on May 1, 2010, and a dream bout against WBO welterweight champ Manny Pacquiao still could not be worked out. The undefeated six-time world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. faces WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz on September 17 at The MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KOs) has a 6 bout win streak, in his last fight he defeated Andre Berto to claim the WBC crown in a fight many consider the year’s best.
Fresh from a 6-0 victory annihilation match from Marcus Hall, Gomez is said to be an undercard in Vegas. Gomez stated that this will be his first training camp of his career.
